“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”
A survey conducted in September 2014 by The Pew Research Center, found that for the first time, more than half of all online adults 65 and older use Facebook. This represents 31% of all seniors. The research shows that there are many benefits to using social media:
- It can reduce feelings of loneliness or even depression
- It can give you increased mental stimulation
- In can increase one’s self confidence
- It can provide an improved ability to socialize and communicate with others
Many research studies also show that brain fitness can help slow cognitive decline. There are countless number of apps that can help keep the brain sharp, with new apps available every day. Learning how to use an iPad, tablet, or smartphone and exercising your brain using some of these apps, is just one way you can help slow cognitive decline.
We need to stay active, need to be talking, learning new information, and practicing skills that we may not be using anymore. Smartphones and Tablets are wonderful technology tools that offer so many choices for exercising our brain!
