Everything you need to know about live photos on your iPhone or iPad

Live photos are the closest thing a photo can get to being a video. These provide cool motion to normally still photographs. Even though you take a still photograph, 1.5 seconds of the picture will be in motion. If you are unfamiliar with live photos, keep reading to find out more!

How to take a live photo:

  1. Open the Camera app
  2. Tap the Live Photo button (looks like a set of diffusing rings at the top of your screen). If it is yellow, then that means it is on.
  3. Tap the Shutter button to take a photo

How to set a live photo as your wallpaper:

  1. Open the Photos app
  2. Find the live photo you wish to use
  3. Tap the “Share” button
  4. Tap “Use as wallpaper”
  5. Tap “Live Photo” that is displayed on the lower right-hand side of your screen.
  6. Tap “Set”
  7. Choose “Set Lock Screen, Set Home Screen, or Set Both”

How to get a still shot from a Live Photo:

  1. Open the Photos app
  2. Choose the Live Photo you want
  3. Tap the “Share” button in the bottom left-hand corner of you screen
  4. Tap “Duplicate”
  5. Tap “Duplicate as Still Photo”
